Why are DNS records important?
Without DNS records, a website can't be found online and no emails can be received at that domain name. The IP addresses of the website are registered in the DNS records of the domain name. If an online query for the website takes place, the DNS server is first asked for the IP address of the website. This IP address is then communicated back to the computer that is visiting the website.
DNS records are also important for sending and receiving emails. When sending an email, the DNS server is first asked for the mail server's IP address. This IP address is then used to send the email to the intended receiver. In most cases, the IP address of the mail server is also requested to the DNS server in order to receive emails as well.
